Marching On!

about

I made sure, no matter what, that this was the last song I would write before releasing these albums, and it was! I wrote this just after my mom's birthday, and it really encapsulates all of my feelings for this album and these songs, while still being its own.

It was also a call to me that I always make songs start simple and grow and expand as the song goes on, but in this song I did the opposite and decided to start with a lot and slowly take things out one by one, and that too really feels like a rewind button. Like now that I'm back here in April it'll all start over; but it won't! We're done. These are done. I couldn't be happier!

Thank you for listening, and reading, and enjoying.

Love,

lyrics

It's a month for the good times.
It's a month for the bad.
It's a time to remember
All those memories we ad.

The snow is melting away
Just like our time
Together is the way
We should end this night
Of our great intuition
Of our ghostly dreams
Of our haunt march
of Winter as it melts into Spring.

I remember all those things that I've said to you.
Just like honey from a comb into sweet, sweet wine.
The words slipped like fingers through the trees,
And I slipped to you like the birds would to the bees.
Would to the bees.

All of a sudden the winter is gone.
All of a sudden spring comes Marching on.
All of a sudden the winter is gone for you.
Sing one last Winter song.

Here is the moment. Here's the minute. Here's the day.
Here's the time for us to say what we need to say.
As for me, and as for you.
As for us well what will we do?

The changes will come, well that's what they say.
Where will time go as we hide away?
And I'll hold you in my arms just for today.
Just for today.

All of a sudden the winter is gone.
All of a sudden spring comes Marching on.
All of a sudden the winter is gone for you.
Sing one last Winter song.

All of a sudden the winter is gone.
All of a sudden spring comes Marching on.
All of a sudden the winter is gone.
All of a sudden spring comes Marching on for you.
Sing one last Winter...

All of a sudden the winter is gone.
All of a sudden spring comes Marching on.
All of a sudden the winter is gone for you.
Sing one last Winter song.

from For the Months, released April 1, 2015
For the months. For me. For you.
For the changing winds of life as we move our separate ways.
For my future as a music therapist, and my future as a songwriter.
For my future as it changes and we don't know where it goes.
For my family and friends who will always love and support me.
For aging, and growing, and understanding that that's the only way.
For loving with my whole heart and never letting a day pass without telling somebody that I love them.
For you, current Travis who will be past Travis. Travis who is 22, years old. At 11:11 on 4/1/15 I wish for you the happiest life, with the least amount of turmoil and no sadness. I wish for you a life that will be memorable, if not to many, than to people who will truly matter for you. I wish you success in your music ventures so you don't have to work a 9-5 job.

I wish you a life worth living. Until next time.
